Wayland Historical Society

The Wayland Historical Society in Wayland, Massachusetts was founded in 1954 to collect, preserve, and interpret objects and records relating to the rich history of Sudbury Plantation, 1638-1780, East Sudbury, 1780- 1835 and Wayland which acquired its present name in 1835. The Wayland Historical Society owns and operates the 18th century Grout-Heard House, today referred to as the Wayland Museum, in Wayland Center which houses our rich collections of local history. The collections include Native American artifacts, town records, furnishings, toys, newspaper articles, clothing and personal articles, and photographs depicting life in Wayland from pre-colonial times to the present day. Our resources are accessible to researchers, genealogists, and the general public.
