This collection consists of letters, ledgers, and photographs pertaining to the participation of Essex soldiers and their families in the Civil War. A small selection of Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) related materials for the Essex Chapter are also included, which contain photographs and portraits from the years following the Civil War.
